Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
We believe healthcare should feel clear, not confusing. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we’ve received. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out—we’re always happy to help.

Insurance & Payment
Will you accept insurance?
No. We will not be accepting any insurance plans.
I recognize that may be disappointing to some, but insurance companies require providers to follow their guidelines in order to be reimbursed. I don’t want anything interfering with the provider–patient relationship—and unfortunately, these days, insurance often complicates that.
We will operate as a fee-for-service practice. Pricing will be clearly communicated upfront so there are no “holding your breath until the bill comes” moments.
Will this be a subscription-based practice?
No. You will simply pay for what you need, when you need it.
Otherwise, spend your money on something more fun.
Will I know the cost before my visit?
Yes. Transparency is a priority here. You will know the cost of your visit before your appointment so there are no surprises afterward.
What does pricing typically look like?
Most visits and in-office procedures range from $75–$225, depending on the type and complexity of care. If you ever have questions about pricing, we’re happy to walk you through it before scheduling.
Can I still use my insurance for anything?
Yes. While office visits are self-pay, we are able to submit insurance for certain services such as lab work and vaccines. These are often covered similarly to traditional practices.
Appointments & Visits
Do you accept walk-ins?
No. Cornerstone is not a walk-in or urgent care clinic. All visits are by appointment only.
We will always do our best to work patients in when they are sick, but scheduling is required.
How do I become a patient?
We begin by scheduling your first appointment by phone. This allows us to make sure you are scheduled appropriately and that you know exactly what to expect before you arrive.
When will you begin seeing patients?
We will begin seeing patients starting May 4, 2026.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. We are currently accepting new patients by appointment.
What makes your appointments different?
Appointments are structured to allow the time that’s appropriate for each visit.
Whether you’re coming in for something simple or something that needs a closer look, the goal is to provide thoughtful, personalized care that fits your needs.
What are your office hours?
- Monday–Wednesday: Standard appointments
- Thursday: Reserved for more comprehensive or complex visits
- Friday: Closed
New Patients
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit will be more in-depth than a typical appointment. We will spend time discussing your health history, current concerns, and goals so we can create a personalized plan moving forward.
Will there be paperwork to complete?
Patient FormsYes. New patient forms will be provided prior to your visit so you can complete them ahead of time and make your appointment as smooth as possible.
Care Approach
What type of care do you provide?
Cornerstone provides primary care for individuals and families, including sick visits, preventive care, and ongoing health concerns.
Our approach blends conventional and functional medicine—using the strengths of both—so care can be straightforward when it needs to be, and more in-depth when appropriate.
Is this primary care?
Yes—Cornerstone is a primary care practice.
Patients are seen for everyday needs like sick visits, preventive care, and ongoing conditions, with the option to take a more in-depth approach when needed.
Why did you choose to pursue functional medicine?
There are many reasons for this, but both in my own story and in the stories of some of my family members, I saw where patients reached the limits of conventional medicine and were left without direction on where to go next.
Most conventionally trained providers are unfamiliar with functional medicine, and many functional medicine providers are hesitant to incorporate conventional approaches.
I believe there is a balance between the two—and that’s what I hope to offer my patients.
Coordination of Care
Will you have hospital privileges?
For the first time in 21 years, I will not have hospital privileges.
Over time, hospital care has shifted toward hospitalist-based groups caring for patients during their stay. I do hope to have access, through our EMR system, to records from many hospital systems so we can review what was done and continue care appropriately during follow-up visits.
Who is your collaborating physician?
Dr. Trever Biles, a board-certified family physician in Griffin, will serve as my collaborating physician.
He will continue to see patients in his practice in Griffin while I care for patients at Cornerstone Family Wellness in Concord.
About Johnna
Where are you from?
I grew up in Griffin, Georgia, and later attended high school in Pike County. I’ve been in the Pike County area ever since.
Why did you choose Concord for your clinic?
Concord has been my home for many years, and I wanted to provide high-quality care to my hometown.
The setting of the clinic here is also a reflection of what I’m trying to create—stepping away from the corporate pace of medicine and offering access to thoughtful, high-quality care in a small-town environment.
